Ever wonder how our dye-free sugar cookies go from a simple mixing bowl to our colorful market booth in Pensacola? Here’s your inside look at the week leading up to a cookie market weekend—a mix of planning, baking, and teamwork.
Saturday – Mixing Natural Icing Colors for Dye-Free Cookies
Right after we pack up from the Pace Market, my focus shifts to the next weekend’s cookies. I mix 2–3 batches of icing, and Max helps me portion and blend the colors. Using natural icing colors means letting them develop for a few days—an important step to achieve those rich, vibrant tones you see at our booth.
Monday – Baking Fresh Cookies for the Pace and Milton Markets

Monday is all about baking. From morning until night, trays of fresh sugar cookies go in and out of the oven, filling the kitchen with that irresistible smell. Max washes dishes between batches so I can keep baking without a mess piling up—teamwork truly makes the dream work!
Tuesday & Wednesday – Decorating Dye-Free Sugar Cookies
Tuesday is decorating day. I aim to finish at least half the designs with our naturally colored royal icing. Each cookie gets its own personality, whether it’s whimsical, seasonal, or classic. On Wednesday, I finish any remaining designs, making sure every cookie is ready to impress.
Wednesday Night & Thursday Morning – Packaging and Market Prep
Once the icing has fully dried, it’s time for packaging and labeling. Every cookie is heat-sealed to stay fresh for the weekend. Meanwhile, Max gets our cookie samples ready so market visitors can enjoy a taste before buying their favorites.
By the time you see us at the booth, each cookie has been through days of care, creativity, and collaboration. It’s a lot of work, but the smiles at the market make it all worth it.
